Data and validity At sim.do.
Every sim.do plan has two limits: an amount of data and a period. Whichever runs out first ends usable internet, even if the other limit still has room.

In short
sim.do plans are prepaid data packages from 1 GB to 100 GB, with a period of 7 to 180 days, depending on the plan on the product page. The period starts with the first data connection at the destination. When the allowance is empty or the end date is reached, the plan ends. Top-up works only before that, in the Dashboard with the same email or through the link in the notice email.
Allowance and days are not the same
The data allowance is the amount you can use. Validity is the number of days on the plan. A 10 GB plan for 30 days ends after 30 days, even if gigabytes are left. It also ends if the 10 GB are used up earlier.
On the country and region pages, packages run from 1 GB to 100 GB and periods from 7 to 180 days. Not every combination exists for every country. What counts is the plan you buy, including the price in the currency you chose.
Day passes are their own plan type. They provide a daily high-speed allowance and then slow down under the fair-use rules of that pass. The days count from the first data use. The exact numbers are on the product page.

When sim.do starts counting
The period starts with the first data use in the booked area, not on the purchase day and not when you save the QR code. How to prevent that until you arrive is under Activate an eSIM.
Shared Wi-Fi counts toward the same allowance. There is no second quota just for the hotspot. Whether the destination network allows sharing is under Hotspot and Data Roaming.
What the package does not include
- No phone number and no SMS on the sim.do line
- No regular voice calls. Messengers use the data allowance
- No automatic subscription and no renewal after it ends
- No promise of a particular speed. The local network sets the pace
Where you see usage
Our display is not always live. The number for right now is on the device under Settings → Cellular or Data usage, filtered to the sim.do line.
If the sim.do display still shows allowance but the phone is not online, that is a separate problem and not proof that the plan is empty. The checks are under Data left, but no internet.
The counter can catch up
In rare cases the sim.do display updates only after 5 to 10 minutes. Wait that long before you assume the package is empty or full.
Top up while the plan is still valid
A top-up adds allowance to the same eSIM. It is not a second eSIM and not a new profile.

- 1
The same email
Sign in to the dashboard with the address from the order and top up there.
- 2
Or the link in the email
When the allowance is running low, we send an email with a direct link. You can top up through it without creating an account.
- 3
Before it ends
After validity ends, a top-up is no longer possible. A new trip is then a new plan.
Questions about allowance and the period
The questions that come up most often.
Do leftover gigabytes expire on the last day of validity?
Yes. When the period ends, the plan ends, even if data is left. Leftover allowance is not moved to a new order.
Can I top up after it expires?
No. A top-up is possible only while the existing eSIM is still valid.
Does WhatsApp count toward the allowance?
Yes. Everything that runs over the sim.do data line counts toward the package, including messengers, maps, and hotspot.
How fast is the connection?
The network on site sets the speed, often 4G or 5G. In buildings, mountains, or at busy times it can be slower.
