Which Europe eSIM covers Switzerland, the UK and Turkey?

sim.do Team|October 21, 20267 min read

A Europe eSIM covers Switzerland, the UK and Turkey only when the plan names each country. In the sim.do catalog, Switzerland and the UK sit on each of the four lists below. Turkey sits on Europe (30+ areas) and is absent from the 31-area, 33-area and 35-area lists. The 35-area list, including 50 GB for 90 days and 100 GB for 180 days, also leaves France out.

The plan lists in this article were taken from the sim.do catalog on 21 October 2026. If a plan page shows a different list, use the plan page.

Where the three countries sit

Switzerland and the UK

Named on the 31-area, 33-area, 35-area and 30+ lists.

Turkey

Named on Europe (30+ areas). Absent from the 31-area, 33-area and 35-area lists.

France on a long stay

On the 31-area, 33-area and 30+ lists. Absent from the 35-area list, including the 90-day and 180-day plans.

Roam like at home

Roam like at home is the European Commission rule for periodic travel on a mobile contract you already hold. It covers the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Since 1 January 2026 it also covers Ukraine and Moldova. The Commission publishes the policy on its roaming page.

The UK, Switzerland and Turkey sit outside that rule. A train from France into Geneva, a flight into London, or a crossing into Turkey leaves roam like at home behind. An operator can still add one of those countries as its own contract term. That term is separate from the Commission map.

Fair use limits how long that rule is meant to apply. The Commission says roam like at home is for periodic travel. If you roam in another covered country more than you use the phone at home over 4 months, the operator may apply a surcharge. This article does not quote a data cap.

A prepaid data plan

A sim.do Europe eSIM is a prepaid data plan, separate from roam like at home. The plan has no phone number. Calls and texts stay on the SIM you already use, if the phone can keep two lines. What is an eSIM explains the profile. Roaming pass or travel eSIM compares a pass on a home contract with a travel plan.

Coverage is the country list on the plan you open. Two products can share the name Europe and still disagree about France, the Netherlands or Turkey. Validity starts on the first connection in a covered country. Installing at home does not start the clock. The steps are on Install an eSIM. The allowance and the timer are on eSIM data and validity.

Count the layover

Mobile data in an airport counts as use in that country. If you open maps, tickets or mail during a connection, the hub has to be named on the plan.

Four lists in the catalog

Several Europe plans are active at the same time. The area count is a label. A higher count does not include every country named on a smaller list. Match every country on the route, including a layover if you will use data there.

Europe (31 areas)

Europe (31 areas), with an example validity of 31 days, includes France, the UK and Switzerland. The Netherlands, Turkey, Ukraine and Moldova are not on it. Paris, Zurich and London can share this plan. Amsterdam, Istanbul, Kyiv or Chisinau needs a list that names that stop.

Europe (33 areas)

Europe (33 areas), with an example validity of 30 days, adds the Netherlands and Gibraltar to that kind of list. France, the UK and Switzerland stay on it. Turkey, Ukraine and Moldova stay off it. A day in Amsterdam fits. A day in Istanbul does not.

Europe (35 areas)

Europe (35 areas) includes the longer allowances, among them 50 GB for 90 days and 100 GB for 180 days. It names the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Moldova, San Marino and Vatican City. France is absent. Turkey is absent. A trip through a French city needs another Europe list, or a France plan. Validity and leftover data are explained on eSIM data and validity. The country names still come from the plan page.

Europe (30+ areas)

Europe (30+ areas) includes France, the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Turkey and Ukraine. Moldova, San Marino and Vatican City are not on it. Among these four, this is the list that names Switzerland, the UK and Turkey together. On the region page the same list can be labeled Europe (34 countries), because that is how many codes it stores. The product name in the catalog remains Europe (30+ areas). A stop in Moldova needs the Moldova page, on its own or beside another plan.

Put the route beside the list

Switzerland is on all four lists, and so is the United Kingdom. Turkey is on the 30+ list only. A plan chosen for Paris and London will not carry you in Turkey unless the page names Turkey.

France is on the 31-area, 33-area and 30+ lists, and off the 35-area list. The Netherlands is off the 31-area list and on the other three. A Schiphol connection counts as the Netherlands if you use mobile data there. Ukraine and Moldova joined roam like at home on 1 January 2026. On these prepaid lists both are off the 31-area and 33-area plans and on the 35-area plan. Ukraine is also on Europe (30+ areas). Moldova is not.

The Balkans are a separate product

The Balkans plan covers Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, Greece and North Macedonia. Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria also appear on Europe lists. Serbia, Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia need the Balkans list or their own country plan, unless a Europe list you are holding actually names them. The German route guide Internet auf dem Balkan covers the same product in more detail.

Questions about Europe eSIM coverage

Does roam like at home include Switzerland, the UK and Turkey?

No. It covers the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and since 1 January 2026 also Ukraine and Moldova. The UK, Switzerland and Turkey stay outside it. The policy is on the Commission roaming page.

Which sim.do Europe list includes Turkey as well as Switzerland and the UK?

Europe (30+ areas) names all three, plus France and the Netherlands. The 31-area, 33-area and 35-area lists name Switzerland and the UK and leave Turkey off.

Do the 90-day and 180-day Europe plans include France?

No. Those allowances, 50 GB for 90 days and 100 GB for 180 days, use Europe (35 areas). That list omits France and Turkey. Pick a list that names France, or a France plan. France still has to be named on the plan you buy.

Does installing the eSIM at home start the validity?

No. Validity starts on the first connection in a covered country. Installing at home does not start the clock. The order is on Install an eSIM and on eSIM data and validity.

Is Serbia or Albania included in a Europe eSIM?

Only when that Europe plan names them. Otherwise use the Balkans list, which covers Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, Greece and North Macedonia, or a country plan. Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria can also appear on a Europe list.
