Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can install the eSIM anytime. It only activates when you're in the destination country and use data. If you install several days before departure, disable mobile data for the sim.do eSIM until you arrive at your destination. This prevents unintentional activation in your home country.

Yes, most devices can store multiple eSIM profiles. However, you can usually only use one eSIM for data at a time. Example iPhone: Two eSIMs can be active simultaneously – one for data (sim.do), one for calls (your main SIM). You choose which one handles internet under "Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data".

Your main SIM remains active. You can still use it for calls while using the eSIM for mobile data. Practical example: Calls and SMS via your regular SIM card, internet via sim.do eSIM. This way you avoid roaming fees for data while staying reachable under your usual number. Important: Roaming charges for incoming calls on your main SIM are not automatically eliminated.

If you delete the eSIM from your device, the original QR code becomes invalid. A new installation requires a new activation code. For security reasons: Each QR code can only be used once. Only delete the eSIM if you're certain you no longer need it. If accidentally deleted: Contact our support at support@sim.do – we'll help you as quickly as possible.

Our eSIMs are data-only plans. For calls, you can use your main SIM or VoIP apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Skype, or Telegram over the data connection. Note: In some countries, VoIP services may be restricted or blocked. Please check your destination country's local regulations in advance.

Validity depends on the plan you chose (e.g., 7 days, 15 days, or 30 days). The period starts with first data usage – not from the purchase date. You can buy and install the eSIM in advance without the period starting. Example: You buy a 7-day plan on March 1st, install the eSIM on March 5th at home, but use it for the first time on March 10th at your holiday destination → The 7 days start on March 10th and end on March 16th.

You can always install the eSIM manually using the activation details. The details (SM-DP+ address and activation code) are in your confirmation email. Manual installation:

1 .

Open "Settings → Cellular" (iOS) or "Settings → Network & Internet → SIM cards" (Android),

2 .

Select "Add eSIM" or "Add cellular plan",

3 .

Tap "Enter details manually" or "Enter yourself",

4 .

Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code.

Top-ups are currently not available. The quickest way is to purchase a new eSIM. We are working on bringing this feature back and will update you as soon as top-ups are available again.

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → If you see the option "Add eSIM" or "Add Cellular Plan", your iPhone supports eSIM. Android: Settings → Connections → SIM card management or Network & Internet → SIM cards. Alternative method: Dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID (32-digit number) is displayed, your device supports eSIM. Unsure? Visit our device compatibility page for a complete list.

This depends on the plan you booked. For regional plans (e.g., "Europe", "Asia", "Global"), roaming is included in multiple countries. Country-specific plans work only in the booked country. You can find exact country coverage on each plan's product page under "Covered Countries" or in your order confirmation.

Speed depends on the local network and can reach up to 4G/5G. We automatically select the best available network in each country. In urban areas: usually 4G/LTE or 5G. In rural areas: 3G or 4G. Influencing factors: Local provider's network coverage, time of day, location (buildings, mountains).

Since the eSIM is provided as a digital service immediately and can be activated, no refund is possible after provision (according to § 356 para. 5 BGB). Exceptions: Technical issues on our end or incorrect plan description. For legitimate complaints, contact support@sim.do – we'll find a solution.
